Apparently a year because that's how long my daughter's sweater sat, untouched and never worn in my closet.
This Sunday morning under the duress of her needing something for church, I finished it in two minutes flat. She and I both love how it turned out.
The pattern is Bulle on Ravelry and I'm sure it won't be my last. The yarn is a stripe of Malabrigo and Frabjous Fibers. Both incredibly soft. You can find them online at one of my favorite small town yarn shops, Apples to Oranges, http://applestooranges.net.
My other project this week was a Melodia shawl, on Ravelry, which was promptly scooped up by my six year old.
It had an interesting cast-on where you start with 3 or 4 stitches and knit a few rows and then rotate your needle to pick up stitches on 2 more sides of the starting stitches.
The rest of the pattern was lots of garter stitch with an occasional row of eyelet. But I love how it turned out. Another great beginner lace project.
Even better, it was made with stash yarn that I've had for at least 5 years. It feels so good to have out of the stash and knit into something pretty.
The yarn is a milk fiber blend by Kollage called creamy. It is incredibly soft. I've never used milk fiber before. Hoping it holds up to my girl.
Getting ready to cast on another stash project or 2 to burn through all the miscellaneous skeins of Cascade 220 and other worsted a in there.
I'm joining Ginny and her knit along this week.

2 very pretty makes! Yay for stash busting!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteI love that shawl - and the yarn color as well. Didn't it feel good to get that sweater finished? It came out lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt sure did. Promised myself I won't let it happen again. But you know....
DeleteLove the sweater and the scarf, both very pretty projects!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sylvia!
DeleteThey both look gorgeous - lovely colours!
ReplyDeleteLovely projects! I have often wondered (and fondled) milk fiber in a LYS - haven't knit with it yet!
ReplyDeleteThe milk fiber was so soft to knit with. Makes me a bit concerned about how it will stand the test of my mudpie, fairy village constructing girl. We'll see. :)
Deletenice to read your yarn along post! what a nice sweater and shawl too! very lovely!
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting.
DeleteI love them both and it's also so nice to know that I'm not the only person who does that with things like buttons! I had a cardigan I made for my daughter sit for over a year because I didn't want to put the buttons on. I'm making more and more projects with little finishing since it makes it more likely that I might actually finish something :-) I especially love your daughter's sweater!
ReplyDeleteI find myself doing the same thing. Not sure if I will ever knit a sweater with set in sleeves. Thanks for visiting.
DeleteThat shawl is lovely! The colors are so vibrant. I'm also glad to hear I am not the only person who takes so long with sewing on buttons. Congratulations on knitting from your stash! I am probably at SABLE levels here, and am working on the same. :-)
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it feel great? I'm getting a little bored of blue - apparently, that's all I must have been buying for years. But I'm working through it. Keep going, Ranee!
